Understanding Sacramento Trauma Centers

March 19, 2025
Rancho Cordova Public Library
Sacramento, CA

This event co-sponsored by the Rancho Cordova Rotary, Kiwanis and Soroptimist Int'l of Rancho Cordova/Gold River clubs

Speaker: UC Davis Medical Center Professor of Surgery & Trauma Surgeon and Surgical Intensivist David Shatz, MD FACS

Topic: Understanding Trauma Centers

Information: Each year, over 10,000 victims of serious injury are taken to Sacramento’s trauma centers.  Occasionally, victims are transported by friends or family, but that could be a lethal decision if taken to one of the many non-trauma centers in the county.  We will discuss what these serious injuries are, which of Sacramento’s hospitals are trauma centers, and why it is critically important that people sustaining these often-life-threatening injuries get to the right place at the right time.
