Japanese Grilling Made Easy

 Like so many of us spending more time at home during the pandemic, Chicago native Jerry Lai became interested in practicing new skills he could learn from the safety of his home. This past spring and summer, he turned to two newfound passions: grilling and learning how to video edit. Jerry, a sports media manager by day, started the YouTube channel Chicago Griller and has since mastered several grilling techniques. Although he experiments with all types of food, he has a special affinity for Japanese cuisine and incorporates many principles of Japanese flavoring and cooking in his meals.

    Join Jerry and members of the JETAA Chicago and Young Professionals Committee of the Japan America Society of Chicago (YPC JASC) for a “last roast" to summer 2020 on Thursday, September 10, from 6:30-7:30 PM CST. Jerry will demonstrate how to make tsukune (chicken skewers) and yaki onigiri (grilled rice balls). Upon registration, guests will receive a list of ingredients if they would like to cook along. No grill? No problem. The recipe can be adapted to be made indoors with a skillet. The event is free and open to members of JETAA Chicago, Friends of JET, and the YPC JASC.
