We've organized three sessions from June to August 2018:
Mornings are more structured and focused on standard skill building that will lead to a final project within the week as led by college professor, cartoonist and illustrator Mark Simmons (UltimateMark.com).
Afternoons are more focused on group work and studio time in approach to allow students to discover their own passions and challenge themselves with guidance and support from our long time camp instructor, cartoonist and illustrator Ellis Kim (TimeFiddler.com).
Full Days ensure that students get the best of both worlds between structure and open exploration, from 9am to 5:15pm includes a 45 minute supervised recess and lunchtime from 12:45pm to 1:30pm in Ghirardelli Square and/or Aquatic Park across from the museum. Food is not provided. Participants will need to bring their own lunch.
Excursions for drawing field trips are held twice each week, usually on Tuesday and Thursday depending on weather. Locations are within walking distance to the Museum and are no additional cost. Parents/Guardians will be notified by email and in person at or proceeding drop off of the exact location, date and time for excursions. Past locations have included Ghirardelli Square, Aquatic Park lawn and gardens, Aquatic Park Visitor Center and the Hyde Street Cable Car Turnaround. Students are always accompanied by at least the instructor and an additional staff member.
Students will also get up and move to explore the exhibitions on display and learn elements of acting for a better understanding of storytelling elements like body language, expressions and scene composition.
Healthy snacks are provided during Morning and Afternoon sessions with careful consideration to camper dietary needs and restrictions to keep kids energized. Campers may bring personal snacks or beverages to consume during designated times or as needed for health reasons.
Those attending multiple weeks will get access to advanced projects and exercises to build on learning in previous weeks.
Required Materials will be provided. Students are welcome to bring in their personal sketchbooks and materials to add to their learning experience.
THINGS TO NOTE:
If your child has any additional needs please inform us along with your registration so that we can better serve your child.
