Our instructors change from month to month, so any of the above may be teaching the workshop.

Mark Simmons is a freelance illustrator and 2009 graduate of the Academy of Art University. He specializes in cartoons and sequential art, including comics, storyboards, and graphic recording. https://ultimatemark.com/
Gladys Ochoa has BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts and an MFA from San Francisco State University in Museum Studies. She champions inclusivity in the arts including cartoons through Prism Awards, Sick and Disabled Fair (SAD), and the Queer Comics Expo.
Saturday afternoon cartooning workshops meet monthly from 3:00 PM to 4:30PM. Students learn a different in depth adult-level introductory skills in each workshop, with subjects ranging from designing characters to writing stories to creating finished comics. The specific skills participants are most interested in will be considered and addressed as possible during each workshop.
The attendance fee for each student is collected through your online reservation payment. The attendance fee covers the cost of logistics and staffing to make these programs possible.
These workshops are recommended for students from 14 years and older. Students under the age of 14 will not be admitted into the workshop without prior approval.
Online Reservations must be made by 2pm on the Friday before the date of the workshop. If you have made a reservation and you will not make it to the workshop, please call to cancel as soon as possible. (See cancellation policy below.)
Please arrive on time no one will be able to be admitted into the workshop later than 5 min after it starts.

Cancellation: All participants must be pre-paid prior to the day of the workshop. Full refunds given with 3 days cancellation notice (Wednesday) prior to the day of the workshop. No refunds given for notice within 2 days (Thursday, Friday) prior to the first day of the workshop or on the day of the workshop. For those signing up for multiple dates the cancellation policy applies to each date individually and refunds are prorated at the discretion of the Cartoon Art Museum.
